Curious on how to upgrade your Facebook status to sainthood? Come join the 10 a.m. adult forum to talk about the origins of saints in the early church, how saints are commemorated in the Anglican communion, and how you might qualify. Led by Lionel Edes.
Sunday, October 16, 10-11 am, Parish Hall:
"The Blessing of Memory" will invite us to reflect on the gift of remembering our deceased loved ones, even as these memories may evoke feelings of loss and sadness. Prayer flags will be available for recording the names and legacy of these loved ones, as we together prepare for our annual feast day. Led by Pam Palmentera, bereavement counselor.
Fall/Winter 2010: “Breaking Bread, Eucharist, and Feeding the Hungry,” “Facing Economic Distress with Radical Gratitude,” and “Spiritual Reflections on Waiting.” In December, those mourning the loss of a loved one gathered together to explore the challenge of grieving during the holidays. With the support of the Justice Circle and LGBT Change, we met with the Very Rev. Rowan Smith to explore – and be inspired by -- the experiences of our gay and lesbian African brothers and sisters.
Winter/Spring 2011: “Exploring Prayer” (a 4 week series, in progress) and “Lessons of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”. Coming soon are, “Art & Spirituality,” “Economy, Faith, and Daily Life,” a Lenten Series on “Incarnation: A Body-Centered Faith” and Summer Salons- weekly conversations about spiritual topics chosen at random from those ideas submitted by our community, held on the front lawn of the church .
