Capital Campaign Phase II

May 2, 2008

Dear Friends,

As you may know, last summer we held several conversations regarding the second phase of our Capital Campaign, and we discussed what work needs to be done out of dire necessity. From those conversations we realized that it is time to shore up our church home and expand the size of our church school classrooms in order to meet the needs of our ever-increasing number of children.

In October we officially kicked off Phase II of the Campaign with a spooky scavenger hunt that took people to the bowels of the sanctuary and the great heights of the crumbling bell tower so they could see it with their own eyes. And many discovered just how scary All Saints’ can be!
With our kick-off, we also asked the question, “How could we possibly raise so much money for ourselves without giving some of it to others in need?” So we sat down and planned how we will distribute 10% of all Campaign monies raised among our outreach efforts – here in the Ravenswood neighborhood, in New Orleans and in Sudan. Because we may be a dot on the globe, but we’re working to make a difference in the world!

Since then, you might have wondered when we’d come looking for help. And most likely you were glad that you hadn’t heard a word! But in the last few weeks, our contractor has taken down the tree behind the church school wing and started pouring concrete so the classroom expansion can happen during the summer when church school’s not in session. So….the time for asking is upon us!

Below you’ll find a comprehensive list of the work we plan to do during Phase II of the Capital Campaign – if we can raise $850,000. As you can see, there’s a lot to be done in order to restore the architectural foundations of the church and enlarge the church school – but take a look at the outside of our 124-year old church and you’ll see that we need it!

Because you’re a valued member of our congregation, we’re asking you to participate in this critical fundraising effort by making a pledge today. Hoping for 100% involvement by All Saints’ parishioners, we invite you to take an active role in strengthening our church community and making these important improvements for our future. If you have questions about the work that will be completed, or you’d like to learn more, please join us on Sunday, May 4th at 10:00 am in the parish hall for further conversation about the Campaign.

We thank you for your consideration and look forward to what lies ahead as the Phase II work gets underway.

Sincerely,

The Capital Campaign Committee
Tina Tchen, Chairperson
The Rev. Bonnie A. Perry, Rector
